Clinical Cases
David – PERIODONTICS
Gingival Surgery (Gum Surgery)
David came to me with gum swelling and bleeding problems. He was on medications for his heart disease that resulted in gingival (gum) overgrowth. Following a course of Non-Surgical Periodontal (gum) treatment, gum surgery (Gingivectomy) was carried out.
David carefully followed bespoke instructions on how to effectively clean his teeth. Two months following surgery, his gum swelling improved, bleeding problems stopped and he was able to smile again. Very importantly, David was able to carry out effective oral hygiene and save all his teeth. This case demonstrates that it is not just periodontal treatment but also combined medical management is required to manage complex Periodontal (gum) disease/s.
